Busted.....

Both of our cats know that they aren't allowed on the counter tops or dining tables. They do a good job of staying off. Even during the day when we are gone.

The other day, John brought home some blankets that we let his brother use when he was recovering from knee replacement surgery. He was kind of in a hurry, so he just left them on the dining room table and left again.

I got home from work that night, I was puzzled because I didn't hear either one of the cats jump down from the bed upstairs to run down and see me. But I didn't think much of it....until I walked into the dining room and saw this....Yep, there was Bonnie totally zonked out on the blankets...on the table....she really never woke up until she heard me come back into the dining room with the camera...and even then she didn't move! So I took the picture and then patted her on the head and told her that she had best get off the table because she know better. LOL. Well, she didn't move. Obviously she liked those blankets. But boy, let me tell you, the second she saw that spray bottle, she took off!!! Right up the steps and back onto the bed...where she's allowed.

I'm still trying to figure out how she knew those blankets were on the table since she spends pretty much all day long on our bed...
Or on John's recliner.
John said, he thinks she just likes blankets, because one other time she made a nice little bed for herself from a bedspread that I left on a bed while I was waiting for the sheets to dry...here's what that looked like....

I guess it just must be nice to be a cat!!

Trying to get back on the wagon!

Two years ago, when I got married, I got my weight down to 135 pounds. I was trilled with that! Then, a honeymoon cruise, a thyroid cancer diagnosis and the ups and downs of that and getting regulated on synthroid and yet another cruise...I gained back 10 pounds. Ugh!! Ok, yea I know that is not the death of me and it really isn't all that bad. But geesh, at almost 46 years old, holy crap is it hard to get back off.

Part of the problem, I have no will power what so ever to stop eating. Oh and what about the carbs!!! Taking carbs away from an Italian is not a good thing. But, alas, I have learned to like whole wheat pasta. I even got John to like it so that is a huge plus!! And yes, we eat healthy, but really suck at portion control. I also am not good at drinking water. It's not that I don't like it. But you know, it's just like beer and drinking...once you go....forget it...I might as well put my desk in the ladies room! So I don't drink water that much.

Then there's the exercise....No real discipline there either....I'll start out really great, but then the excuses start....

But now, I really have to stop with the excuses. In the next year, I have 2 family weddings. My niece Allyson and John's niece Amy. And that one is this July! I would love to be back down to 135 by Amy's wedding.

Ok, I know you guys might say, I can do it. And yes, I know that I can....however, my surgery is 7 weeks away.

This morning, while talking to John, I realized that I would love...no need to be in some kind of decent shape by May 18th, just to have a good and fast recovery.

So today, I hit the gym at work with no fear!!! It was 20 minutes on the treadmill with 2 minute walk/run intervals. Then I hit the weights for 20 more minutes. And for the first time in a long time...man did I sweat!! And after that shower, I felt great the rest of the afternoon!

My focus now, is to keep that thought from this afternoon at the front of my head to get back on the workout wagon!!

I Love My Hubs!!

I've had a headache for the past 2 days. It's driving my crazy. I don't know if it's a sinus thing because of the changing weather or stressed out because of my upcoming surgery. Or it could be a combo of both.

Tonight, I was miserable. After dinner I went and curled up on the couch. About a half hour later, he came down and without me even asking, just started rubbing my head. I still have the headache, but boy did that feel good. He doesn't do stuff like that often, but when he does it's always at the right time!!

Anyway, that's all for tonight.

Week in Review

This has been one of those up and down weeks that makes you crazy and stressed. Plus you had St. Patrick's day and the first day of spring

I think that by far the greatest thing that happened was that my youngest niece Allyson got engaged to Doug!!! He's a really nice guy and they look soo cute together. Not a really great picture of them but you get the idea...that's my mom and my nephews, Wes in the pic.

They have set a date of July 31, 2010. So I guess now the race is on to lose weight.

Other things that happened this week. I got a call from my OB/GYN's office that my surgery has been pushed back a week because the assisting Dr isn't going to be there on the original day. Now it's going to be on May 18th. Well, just peachy, I get to think about it for a week longer. I'm actually pretty scared about this one....but that is another post in itself.

This has also been a bad week in the health and fitness world for me. I slacked so much on the exercise part of it. I also had dinner out 2 nights this week. I can reason one on a good week of working out, but this week was hard to begin with. One of the nights was planned, but the other was when the dr.'s office called and I came home bummed and John took me out to get away from it. Hopefully the scale won't be too hard on me Tuesday on my weigh in day....:)

Then there's the tenants from hell. Well, they really aren't that bad, but have weird ways. One of them has a bad habit of locking themselves out of the house. No joke, it happens once a week at least. Good thing we live on the same street and John works out of our house and is usually home during the day. Another tenant got his car repo'd...well at least we think. he had been complaining that it's a piece of shit and is getting rid of it. Next thing we saw was no plates on the car and a tow truck over there when nobody was home. Things that make you go, hmmmmmm. Then there's one other tenant that has a seasonal job. And a revolving door...especially during the off season of not working.....but at least she pays the rent on time....well mostly on time. but she did manage to get her electricity turned off Thursday because she kicked out the guy she was living with during the summer. The bill was in his name and she decided that she wasn't going to pay the bill.

You just never know what is going to happen next when you're a landlord. LOL..

At least the week ended with the entrance of Spring!!! Well, the calendar says so, but going outside is another story. And I wish it would warm up already!!! My tootsies need a pedi in the worst way.

Well, time to go. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!

getting old

Not that I consider myself old. Heck, 45 is nowhere near old. In fact I don't even feel old or anywhere near it. However, recent changes in my life the past week, has made me realize that getting old sucks.

Since 2003,I've had two major surgeries. And I just found out I have to have another. Thankfully, none of them have been life threatening and neither is this one.

But it really makes you take a step back and reflect on things.

The last few days though, it's gotten me down. We have a good life. No, not good, it's a great life!! I love my hubby more then anything. He's been so supportive the last few weeks.

Last night we were watching TV and for no reason and without me asking or hinting at it, he just started massaging my neck and shoulders. And told me that he figured I could use one now and told me not to worry that he's not going to forget to give me shoulder rubs when I'm home recovering. I thought that was the sweetest thing and since I'm a girl, yea, I cried.

He really is the sweetest guy I've ever known.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe St. Patrick's Day!

where is spring?!

I like the fact that sun has been out 2 days in a row and on the weekend! There's something about sun and Vitamin D that makes you feel good. But seriously, where are the warm temps? John is outside cleaning up the yard and had to come back inside to switch to a warmer jacket AND put on a hat.

This has been the worst winter ever. So much snow since January and freezing cold temps. It really just needs to end.

I need a pedicure and refuse to spend the $35 when I have to put closed toe shoes back on and mess it up.

I'm longing to open the windows and get fresh air in the house.

I can't wait to sit out on the front porch on Sunday mornings with my coffee and watch the Sailboat races! They are sooo cool to watch.

And I'm seriously tired of wearing turtle neck sweaters and my winter coat.

So Mother Nature, if you're reading. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE send us spring!!!

wii revolution

John and I became members of this highly addicting club!

I haven't had or played video games in years. I guess because they can be mindless and sedentary.

However, last month we were at my nieces house and they got one for Christmas. We were watching Brandon and Drew play and were impressed at how active and involved it is.

So we decided to get one. I really get a workout when I play. I'm also sore today because last night we played Tiger Woods PGA golf. Holy crap, my body ached the same way it does when I really play golf. MLB Baseball and tennis, I really need to practice. As John nicely told me that I suck. I totally agreed. I guess I should have played those games more growing up. But since I led a sheltered life, this is a first for me. Good thing I can play against the computer before I subject myself to the blow out that John will no doubt deal me.

Facebook

For the longest time, I couldn't figure out what the fascination is with Facebook and/or Myspace. Especially for us middle aged folks. Why on earth would a 45 year old woman do on a site like that. Especially when you hear of all the perverted, sex addicts that are out there. I could see myself getting on that site and being contacted my some weirdo that wants to stalk me or something. So I just put it out of my head.

Well a few months back, I must have gotten a bit curious and went on the Facebook site. Entered in my email addy. But then they asked some questions that I didn't feel like answering or comfortable. Well, little did I know that it was enough to register me. I didn't think anything of it again. Until an former supervisor of mine requested me as a friend on Facebook. HUH?! WHA?! I'm not on that site. Well, I accepted her friend request because I just so happen to adore Peggy and was really surprised that she was on it. So that piqued my curiosity again. This time, I went ahead and created my profile and all that. And just like that, I am hooked on it. Have also been able to connect with relatives that I haven't talked with in awhile...oh and old classmates!!

Facebook rocks and I'm now networking....and having a blast. Maybe someday, I'll add this website to my profile....however that would mean that since there's family on it, I have to watch what I say so as to not diss anyone. Not that I would anyway.

Well, I'm off to FB (as they say)

Is Springtime Close?

Today is March 1st. The temperature in Cleveland right now is a whole 20 degrees. The wind is whipping straight off the lake which is making it feel down right ugly outside.

It's so cold, that I haven't even left the house all day. I poked my head out for a second to grab the cat food for our outside kitties and literally froze.

It doesn't even remotely feel like spring is 20 days away.

I am so longing for spring, it isn't funny....first off because, due to the stupid economy, we are boycotting travel and not taking a vacation like we do this time of year. And second, because we just bought a bike rack for J's truck and have made it a point that we will start bike riding as part of our healthy lifestyle. I haven't gone bike riding in years and can't wait to start again.

This cold is going to continue through the week. Oh well, I guess I should complain to much. At least we don't have snow falling right now or any left on the ground.
