It's New Year's Eve

And I've managed to catch my husband's bad cold....good thing we were planning on staying home any way....oh well, I still plan on watching Shirl and Terry's wedding ceremony on line from the Little Chapple of Flowers in Las Vegas tonight. I'm excited about that. And I think that John is going to cook dinner. Well at least attempt and I'm sure it will be simple. I already told him we can have grilled chicken on the George Forman and whatever veggie he wants...we have a variety in the freezer. I also plan on having champagne and watching the ball drop!!

I hope everyone has a great time tonight and be safe!

We are People So Bitter

A little bit of background...a co-woker that shares the same office with me has been really bitter lately. to give her the benefit of the doubt, she's had a rough year; a couple of relationships that have gone south and not passing an interview to a job that she really wanted, to name a few.

I can always tell what mood she's in when I walk in the door by the way she acknowledges me when I say "good morning". If it's a cheerie good morning, she's in a good mood and we'll have a very talkative day....if it's an under her breath, 'morning', she's in a foul mood and I know to keep my distance. Oh and we won't get into the slamming down of files....

Anyway, her most recent break-up was about a week before christmas. She had been dating this guy since October. Not a long period of time and they only went out once a week, but it's still hard on her.

So fast forward to today. I get to the office. She is there before me. I walk in all in a good mood, because I had a great Christmas! I say "good morning!" I got the under her breath 'morning' and nothing more. I just instantly felt stress because I knew it was going to be a bad day.

Then about 15 minutes or so after I got in and settled, another co-worker comes into the office to drop some paperwork off. He was in a good mood also and says "Good morning everyone!! How was your Christmas?!?! All of the sudden she piped up with the most sarcastic "SHITTY!!!!" I cringed, didn't say a word and neither did Al. He dropped off what he had and quietly left the room. Not another word was exchanged between me and her and Al kept quiet the next time he had to come into the room.

Oh well, at least I'm home now and happy...who knows what kind of mood she will be in tomorrow...I can only hope that when the time comes for her to be able to redo the interview, that she decides to take it and passes it....otherwise, I'm in for a L.O.N.G. 2009

Christmas Has Come and Gone

It's hard to believe that another Christmas has come and gone. I live for this time of year and it makes me sad that I will be packing away all the decorations next weekend.

All in all we had a good Christmas holiday. We had the Wadsworth family Christmas dinner on the 23rd...it was nice to see the whole family together...It's sad that we don't get together with them more, but because of things that happened long before I came along, I really doubt that I will get John to see them more.

Christmas Eve we spent with my family at our house. I made a turkey dinner, but as usual I made way too much food. We literally could have fed both families and then some.

And this year, I became of victim of John's holiday present hunt. I thought that since I was his wife, I would be immune to this 'tradition' of his. My stocking gave me the first clue that I may be in trouble. He had placed 2 earrings...one from each set....in my stocking....along with a card of instructions....His first hint wasn't that hard as one of them ended up being on the tree...however, the next clue made me go outside...Luckily it wasn't snowy or raining.....but I only came to find out that the rest of the gifts were inside...This was his year to fill my jewelry box with cute necklace and earring sets.

I then went to Christmas morning mass with my mom and then came home and we celebrated Christmas Day back at the Wadsworth's...minus Tom & Lisa and their family...which is the norm since they spend it with Lisa's family, hence why we have the extra dinner with just the family...Dinner there was great as usual and for dessert we had the biggest cupcake I've ever seen.

Friday, we went out shopping for post holiday deals. I thought John was kidding when he said we were getting up at 6AM....oh no....we were up that early and out by 6:30...that was way early....but we got some good deals on clothes and coats. and I stocked up on on cards, wrapping paper and some other items for next year.

By the time we got home and as night came on, John some how caught a cold and boy is he miserable. So the rest of the weekend he spent curled up in bed or on his recliner. Hopefully he will be better for New Years.

Water Main Breaks Rock!!

Well, no, not really. But, if you work in a building that is affected by the break and there's no water, then yes, they rock!

Cleveland had a huge water main break today. A 100 plus year old, 42 inch main broke today and pretty much shut down the water system downtown and the bosses that be sent us home. Of course, there had to be a debate about that. Seems like one boss wanted to send us all home, but another said there was no need just because there was no water. Um, excuse me??? What?? How do you go to the bathroom, you can't flush and you can't wash your hands!!! But never fear, boss #2 had a resolution for that...Hand Sanitizer! ok whatever....in the end, Boss #1 did the right thing and sent us home!!

And YAY for that. I have all my cookies made and 3/4 of my presents wrapped. So yea, water main breaks Rock..

going to start this blog thing

It seems like everybody I know blogs....so I feel the need that I should start one too. Sad thing is, I never have anything that exciting to blog about.

We've already planned our wedding and got married...so I can't talk about that

We aren't ttc'ing so I can't blog about that

And because of the above, I'm not pregnant so I can't talk about that.

We don't have kids so I can't come on and blog about the great things they've accomplished or what they did to get a time out.

I can't talk about my job, however, I can talk about the antics of some of my co-workers or vent about them.

We have pets...cats to be exact...2 indoor cats (Bonnie & Clyde) and 6 outdoor cats (Shadow, who is mom to Blackjack & Tiger who are 20 months, Ace & Diamond who are 8 months old and Dixie who is 4 months old...yea, I know that is way too many for us and for Shadow. Now that is something I can blog about someday.

So anyway, here's my first blog post. I'll try to make them as interesting as I can. Not that I'm really going to tell anybody about this blog. It will be interesting to see if the blog search really works. So if you happen onto this blog, please be sure to leave a comment.
